Chaparral’s Varsity volleyball player #14, Taimane Laolagi-Aloy, is ready to make great memories as a senior this year. We discussed her experience and goals for herself in the sport’s world. Since this is Taimane’s last year playing for us at Chaparral, she would like to end her senior year on a high note.
“I will be taking it a bit personally, not only because it’ll be my last time for everything, but also because I will most definitely miss being on the field, court, and at school,” said Laolagi-Aloy.
On any team she’s on, Taimane is seen as a comedian, very fierce competitor, and motivator. Especially during games, she uplifts the team with jokes and reassurance when things aren’t going as planned.
“I always point out the goods when we fall; it’s never “I” or “me.” We fall and win as one,” said Taimane.
With managing her busy life such as school, practice, and games, she makes sure to never fall asleep in school and always pay attention in class. From there, balancing both education and sports is a breeze. Taimane’s sport is not only volleyball; it’s also softball. With that being the sport she first fell in love with, she will be playing it when she attends college. Her plan is to become a lawyer, but she is also interested in oncology.
One important lesson she learned while playing here is to basically enjoy it and the people while you can. “Never wish to grow up so fast; it’ll all come to an end within a blink, and always appreciate who’s been there,” concluded Taimane.
