For the Love of History

“I would like to teach them something they would remember for the rest of their lives..” History teacher Jennifer Moore said she would like to impact students lives, and what better way to do this but to become an educator. Moore is an AP World History teacher here at Chaparral. Moore’s favorite part of the job along side her students is being considered a world history expert amongst her peers. When Moore was younger she initially got into history by tutoring her mom’s friend’s kids.
When asked she said she would not trade her job for any other. Moore’s goal as a teacher is to “teach them something they remember twenty years later, maybe they don’t remember me or my name, but they remember, hey I learned this in school.”
She often she tells her students, “to not be shy and come up and talk to her” and to “most importantly to have fun.”
Throughout Her 22 years of teaching her advice to anyone who wants to become a teacher is, “don’t give up” she mentions
how no one magically becomes a decent teacher and how much effort and time it really takes.
We are lucky to have her here!
