The Winners of the Cupcake Wars are Announced!!!

Angelina Carrillo, Alyssa Huotari, Katerina Hrytsenko, and Yoselyn Orellana with their award winning cupcakes.

It was an intense battle of whipped frosting and sugary delights. Last week’s cupcake wars pitted several participants from Chaparral’s Culinary II class against each other in a bake-off contest.

Groups of students created an original recipe baked their way to a championship. The winners of this year’s cupcake wars was the group consisting of; Angelina Carrillo, Yoselyn Orellana, Alyssa Huotari, and Kateryna Hrytsenko. They won with there Banana Toffee cupcake with Caramel cream cheese frosting. A statement from Ms. Sargent was “When i first looked at your cupcakes they looked good but there wasn’t much special about them but once i bit into one the frosting and the cupcake all came together and was very pleasant to eat”. earning them the win I’m happy for the winners and i cant wait to see who wins in the next one. I also heard there prize for winning will be a hand made apron from Ms. Sargent herself and i cant wait to see how they turn out.

Chase Mc Gary is 16 and a junior this year at Chaparral High School. This is his 2nd year in journalism, and it is his favorite class. He is a very creative person, and also enjoys his theater class. He even acted in a school play when he was younger. Chase hopes to become an actor as a career. His creativity also carries over to streaming on Twitch. His favorite color is red. He loves to listen to music and dance! Chase started playing tennis this past summer and recently joined the Chaparral tennis team.

Kerk is 16 years-old, and a sophomore here at Chaparral High school. He had a great summer this year, spending it in Puerto Rico. This school year he would like pass all classes with higher grades than last year. "I'm trying to surpass my limit to become the best and the greatest of myself. To be honest I didn't do my best last year." He is trying to stand up for himself and doing what he can to until he reaches his goals. "We should all do what we can to achieve achieve greatness!"
