Black lives matter is a protest movement to drive attention to the police cops that pick on black lives. Due to this many African Americans have trauma or ptsd to some sort of extent. While this movement could be very emotional, he had to be done. A few protests were shut down and some were very calm throughout the event. In many cases the movement helped people gain the knowledge of being more open about other people’s race but on the other hand these people will never know how it feels to be in your shoes. This movement had a high effect throughout the decade as going back to slaves, to now, fighting for rights and still currently fighting. The lack of accountability police take because of this is why enforcing new laws and other actions need to be fulfilled. Protests from this action built power, justice, healing and also brought African Americans together as a whole. The environment tried to spread this globally throughout all social media platforms around the world encouraging others to fight with them and support, meaning, anything helps, a repost, a donation, or even just listening to the speeches. As a black African American man, it can also be very stressful being seen as a threat when you’re just trying to live your daily life. The BLM movement has been very goodl in getting conversations and bringing attention to issues such as police as the unequal distribution of resources and opportunities. Through peaceful protests, social media campaigns, and community organizing, it has successfully mobilized millions of people to stand up against racism and demand change. It is important to note that supporting the BLM movement does not mean diminishing the value of other lives
I asked two fellow students of the black community if they believe that black people have always stood out because of the things they do. Both students feel like the movement isn’t enough for black people to feel safe enough and feel as one with the community. Another fellow student felt that this movement shouldn’t even have to exist. That all of us should feel equal and whole as a community with other races and ethnicities. Primarily this movement was to show the brutality and racially motivated violence against black people. The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement is a significant and impactful movement that has gained global attention in recent years. It is a powerful movement advocating for racial justice and equality, specifically addressing the systemic racism and violence faced by Black individuals and communities. At its core, the BLM movement seeks to address the deep-rooted issues of racial discrimination and inequality that continue to persist in various aspects of society. It aims to raise awareness, challenge societal norms, and demand accountability for the unjust treatment faced by Black people. This movement highlights the need for society to recognize and respect the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, regardless of their race. By centering the experiences and voices of Black individuals, the movement aims to dismantle the structures of oppression and work towards creating a more equitable and just society for all.
