Another Thanksgiving has come and gone, but have you ever really wondered what other cultures eat during the holidays?
Hailey Elmore, freshman, said that for her Thanksgiving dinner her family ate turkey, jalapeño poppers, double baked potato, mashed potatoes, candied yams, sweet potato fries, Hawaiian rolls, sliders, and enchiladas. Her absolute favorite part of the meal was the jalapeño poppers.
Another Chaparral freshman, Yoel Rodriguez, said that his family ate turkey, ham, tacos, Oreos, and macaroni and cheese.
“My favorite has to be the macaroni and cheese,” Yoel said.

Freshman Camilo Jaramillo said that on Thanksgiving his family eats chicken, tamales, bread, and ham.
“My favorite thing to eat is the ham,” said Camilo.
In my family, we eat puerco asado which is roasted pork. We eat that with congriz, yuca, salad, mashed potatoes, and a nice apple pie. I always try to make a new dessert for us. Last year I made guava cookies and they came out delicious. There are so many cultures that eat different foods. This holiday season try something out of your comfort zone and introduce a new food to your family! Remember to stay thankful and safe.
